 Republican Eagle The coalition of public health departments in Goodhue, Dodge, Rice and Steele counties assisted with implementing smoking bans in 28 multi-unit buildings from Feb. 1, 2015, to Jan. 31, 2016, the report states. Of the 267 units covered by the bans, 254 are for low-income renters.

 Red Wing Republican Eagle Owners of multi-unit rental properties continued to implement smoke-free rules last year, surpassing expectations of a local anti-tobacco group that has been promoting the benefits of such policies to landlords and renters.

Kara Skahen, program director for Live Smoke Free, has seen smoke-free policies spread across the state. In 2007 when the Live Smoke Free program first began, they were aware of 50 smoke-free apartments in the state. Currently, she is aware of 1,400 in Minnesota.
